Israeli actress sets record with 83 years on stage
JERUSALEM — Veteran Israeli actress Hanna Maron has added another item to her resume — the world’s longest career in theater.
Guinness World Records spokeswoman Anne-Lise Rouse says Maron’s 83 years on stage qualify as the “longest career as a theatrical actress.”
The German-born Maron began acting at age 4. Later in her childhood, she appeared in the Fritz Lang classic “M.” She immigrated with her family to pre-state Israel in 1933 after the Nazi Party’s rise to power in Germany.
Now, at the age of 87, she is acting in the Cameri Theater’s production of the play “The Baggage Packer.”
Maron has been referred to as “the first lady of Israeli theater.”
Her son, Amnon Rechter, said Tuesday that his mother was “amused and flattered” by the record.
