Naperville parks warning of vehicle burglaries

Naperville police and park district officials are investigating a series of vehicle burglaries that have been taking place at district-owned parks and facilities.

The most recent burglary occurred between 10 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. Tuesday, officials said in a news release Thursday.

The events have been scattered throughout district owned property throughout Naperville, including the Barn Recreation Center on Martin Avenue.

Officials said it’s important to note that, in all cases, the cars that were burglarized had a purse in plain sight.

People are being asked to take the necessary precautions to protect themselves and their belongings by either taking valuables inside or locking them in the trunk.

Anyone who witnesses this activity should dial 9-1-1 immediately.
