Partners host 'Doing Business with the City' Sept. 29

Businesses Can Learn How to Register For Bid Opportunities with the City, Naperville Park District, Naperville Public Library and Naper Settlement

The City of Naperville, the Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce and intergovernmental partners are proud to present “Doing Business with the City of Naperville” from 9 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 29 in the Lower Level Meeting Rooms of the Naperville Municipal Center, 400 S. Eagle St.

“Naperville wants to make it as easy and transparent as possible for businesses to learn about opportunities to do work for the City,” Mayor A. George Pradel said. “We want to grow our local and regional economy while also ensuring our taxpayers receive the best value for their hard-earned dollars. By hosting events such as these in a casual setting, we can showcase the process of how the City does business and answer any questions they may have that are keeping them from bidding on City projects.”

This free event is a chance for businesses to learn how to register for bid opportunities with the City, Park District, Library and Settlement and showcase their products and services. Representatives from these agencies as well as the City's online bid service provider and Naperville's Job Order Contracting (JOC) vendor will be available to discuss the process of winning and performing work for the City. Attendees can sign up for business notices of upcoming opportunities on-site. No registration is necessary.

“The Chamber strongly encourages our business community to sign up and compete for the City, Park District, Library and Settlement's business,” said John Schmitt, President & CEO of the Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce. “They all want to do business with local vendors that contribute to the community and employ our workforce, but to have a shot at these contracts, you have to sign up—which is very easy.”

Business owners, construction contractors, service providers, professionals and anyone interested in growing their business in the public sector are invited to this event.

“The Park District's participation as part of the Job Order Contracting (JOC) initiative supports our continued focus of identifying operational efficiencies and good stewardship practices,” Naperville Park District Executive Director Ray McGury said. “This Citywide event will help the District connect with businesses so they can learn more about our projects and priorities and potentially help us fulfill the community's future recreation needs.”

“The Naperville Public Library prides itself on the services that it offers the community and the relationships that it has fostered,” Naperville Public Library Executive Director John Spears said. “We hope that our inclusion in this event will allow us to reach out to the business community and forge partnerships that ensure that the tax dollars we have been entrusted with are spent wisely and in support of local businesses whenever possible.”

“Naper Settlement strongly believes in the powerful impact of collaboration,” said Peggy Frank, President and CEO, Naper Settlement and the Naperville Heritage Society. “Because of that, we strive to do business locally whenever feasible. This type of partnership creates true wins for the entire community.”
