Des Plaines appoints two library trustees

The Des Plaines City Council this week gave their approval to Mayor Marty Moylan’s appointees for two vacant seats on the Des Plaines Public Library board.

Richard Pope and Vincent Rangel will replace library board members Myrtle Klebe and John Robinson, and serve until June 30, 2014.

The terms of Klebe, Robinson and trustee Eugene Fregetto expired June 30. Klebe and Robinson did not request reappointment. It is unclear whether Moylan will reappoint Fregetto.

Pope retired as an administrative manager for the Chicago Transit Authority. He previously managed security operations for city of Chicago libraries and health centers, and was a purchasing manager for the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Child Support Enforcement Division.

Rangel serves as the chairman emeritus of the Illinois Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. He is the vice president of community relations of Miramar Group, an international public relations firm.
