Pedestrian injured in Walmart parking lot

A woman who was injured in the parking lot of an Elk Grove Village Walmart Monday afternoon when she was struck by a vehicle has been released from the hospital, Elk Grove officials said Tuesday.

The accident involved two vehicles and a pedestrian in the parking lot of the Walmart at 801 Meacham Road just before 2 p.m., said Elk Grove Fire Department Batallion Chief William Sellers.

The pedestrian, who was described as a woman around the age of 30, was taken to Alexian Brothers Medical Center, Sellers said.

Deputy Chief John Nowacki of the Elk Grove Village Police Department said the woman has been released from the hospital and is home resting.

He said the investigation continues and no citations have been issued at this point.

Fire department officials said the driver of the stationary vehicle that was struck, a middle-aged female, was taken to Alexian Brothers with nonlife-threatening injuries, officials said.

“Elk Grove Police are investigating as a potential crime scene,” Sellers said.

The driver of the vehicle which police say struck the pedestrian and the stationary vehicle suffered minor injuries and was not hospitalized.
