Hatcher to make another run for Illinois House

State Rep. Kay Hatcher announced Tuesday that she’ll run for re-election to the Illinois House from a district covering Kane and Kendall counties.

Hatcher, a Yorkville Republican, represents the 50th House District, currently one of the most populous legislative districts in the state because the area has grown significantly since the district was created 10 years ago.

But lines were redrawn to make districts across Illinois more even, and the district Hatcher will run in is smaller as a result.

Hatcher said meeting with those constituents has been her focus.

“I meet constantly throughout the district with every conceivable group: schools, businesses and manufacturers, seniors, libraries, veterans, police, firemen, not-for-profits, people of faith and people who have lost faith,” she said.

Candidates continue to make their announcements as the new districts have forced tough decisions across the suburbs.

Candidates can officially file their intentions in late November for the March 2012 primary.
