Senior Fair Oct. 5 features 'Senior of the Year' winners

LOMBARD, Illinois— The Village of Lombard's annual “Senior Fair” is set to take place on October 5 and promises to be bigger and better than ever.

The Senior Fair will take place at the Lombard Community Building, 433 E. St. Charles Road, from 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m. This year, the following agencies have confirmed their participation:

• Dominick's Pharmacy, offering flu shots and shingles shots at discounted prices (please bring insurance information)

• Jewel/Osco Pharmacy, offering free diabetes screening and pneumonia shots (please bring Medicare card)

• Lombard Pharmacy, offering medication disposal service and more

• National University of Health Sciences, offering free chair massages and more

• Lombard Fire Department, offering free blood pressure screenings and more

• Lombard Police Department, offering railroad safety information and crime prevention material

• Lombard Finance Department/Community Development/Village Manager's Office, offering voter's registration, senior cab coupons, CodeRED registration and more

• Social Security Administration

• Secretary of State Mobile Driver's License Facility

• Attorney General's Office

• Illinois Treasurer's Office, offering assistance in checking “Dash for Cash”

• Lions Club Hearing Bus

• Representative Chris Nybo's Office, offering information on the Circuit Breaker program

• DuPage County Clerk's Office

• Helen Plum Library

• Tri-Town YMCA

• Lombard Park District

• Lombard Senior Center

• Lombard Senior Men's Club

• VFW

• Lexington Square

• Sunrise Senior Living at Fountain Square

• York Township

One highlight of the event will be the announcement of the 2011 “Senior of the Year” award winners. Congratulations to those seniors who were nominated for this year's award: Margot Fruehe, Patricia Poskocil, Marie Teixeira, Don Barg, Marlyn Meyer and LeRoy Roath. The “Senior of the Year” awards will be announced at approximately 10 a.m.

The Senior Fair is sponsored by the Village of Lombard's Community Relations Committee, chaired by Trustee Keith Giagnorio. Committee members include Ahmed Ali, Pam Bedard, Lisa Biegalski, Michael Ledonne, Sharon Vish, Barbara

Ware and Cindy Wellwood-Burke.
