State trooper injured in I-94 crash near Deerfield
An Illinois State Police trooper was injured Sunday afternoon when his vehicle crashed into the retaining wall on the Tri-State Tollway near Deerfield, officials confirmed.
The trooper told investigators he was cut off by a red vehicle at around 4 p.m., and lost control while taking an evasive action, said Illinois State Police Sgt. Julio Serrano.
The trooper’s squad car, which did not have the lights or sirens activated, struck the guard rail on the right side of the roadway before crossing all lanes and crashing into the retaining wall on the left side, Serrano said.
Emergency crews transported the trooper to Highland Park Hospital with minor injuries, according to police.
