Wis National Guard troops to get send-off ceremony

MILWAUKEE — About 150 troops from Wisconsin's Army National Guard are preparing for an eventual deployment to Kosovo.

The troops are getting a send-off ceremony at the Milwaukee airport Friday morning. Gov. Scott Walker will lead the ceremony.

The soldiers will be serving in Kosovo as part of a NATO-led peacekeeping mission. They leave Milwaukee for about two months of training in Indiana. Then they'll head to Kosovo around Thanksgiving.

They're members of the 157th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade and the 32nd Military Police Company.

Another 30 soldiers from the 238th Aviation Regiment are part of the deployment as well. They'll get a separate send-off later.
