Get rid of hazardous waste:
The Solid Waste Agency of Lake County will host a household chemical waste collection from 8 a.m.-2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17 at the Lake Forest Municipal Services Center, 800 N. Field Drive, Lake Forest. Accepted items include CFL bulbs, unwanted prescription and over-the counter medicines and supplements (people and pet), household cleaners, gasoline, garden chemicals, pesticides, oil-based paints (no latex) and varnishes, as well as other household chemicals. For a more detailed list or to learn about other collection events, visit www.swalco.org. Appointments are not required. Business waste will not be accepted. The event is free but is for Illinois residents only.
