City Reminds Residents That There Is No Fall Bulk Brush Pickup
Other Options Available to Dispose of Tree Clippings
The City of Naperville would like to remind residents that the Department of Public Works no longer conducts a free bulk brush collection in the fall. The City requests that residents not place branches and other bulk tree and shrub refuse out on their parkways.
Prior to 2010, the City conducted free bulk brush collections each spring and fall. However, due to budget constraints, this program is now conducted only one time per year during the month of May.
Residents may dispose of landscape waste as well as bundled small branches at any time between now and December 16, 2011, as part of the City's weekly yard waste program. To take part in the yard waste program, residents should place grass, weeds, small branches, twigs and leaves in 32-gallon paper yard waste bags. Additionally, branches less than three inches in diameter may be tied in bundles that measure up to four feet long and two feet wide.
Each bundle must be secured with biodegradable twine; bags and bundles have a 60-pound weight limit. A yard waste sticker must be affixed to each bag or bundle prior to placement at the curb for collection. Stickers for the yard waste program may be purchased for $2.10 each at Naperville area hardware and grocery stores as well as at the City's Finance Department counter, located in the Naperville Municipal Center at 400 S. Eagle St.
Bagged brush, including leaves, does not require a sticker from November 7 through December 16, 2011. During this six-week period, residents may dispose of bagged yard waste in 32-gallon paper yard waste bags, free of charge, each week on their normal garbage collection day. No sticker is required on the bags. Branches and other yard waste that are tied into bundles require a sticker at all times.
