Garrison Keillor at the MAC Oct. 23

Acclaimed writer, humorist and storyteller Garrison Keillor brings his wit, eloquence and signature red shoes to the Mainstage of the McAninch Arts Center at College of DuPage, 425 Fawell Blvd. in Glen Ellyn, at 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23.

Keillor, who last performed at the MAC in 2009, is host of public radio's “A Prairie Home Companion” and has written 12 books, including “Lake Wobegon Days,” which he later adapted into a Grammy-winning recording. He is recipient of two Cable ACE Awards and a George Foster Peabody Award.

“I've wanted to be a writer since I was a boy, though it seemed an unlikely outcome since I showed no real talent,” he once said. “But I persevered and eventually found my own row to hoe. Ignorance of other writers' work keeps me from discouragement and I am less well-read than the average bus driver.”

Keillor, a syndicated columnist appearing in numerous daily newspapers, including the Chicago Tribune, is a member of the Chicago Museum of Broadcast Communications Radio Hall of Fame. He also played himself in the film adaptation of “A Prairie Home Companion” in 2006.

This Renaissance man continues to enthrall listeners and readers with his Midwest charm and quick wit.

A free pre-performance MAC Chat on the music and musicians featured on Keillor's radio show will be held at 6 p.m. in Rooms 137 and 139 at the MAC.

Tickets to Garrison Keillor are $75 for adults, $73 for seniors and $65 for College of DuPage students and children age 17 and younger. First- and second-row tickets are $100 for adults, $98 for seniors and $90 for students and youth.
