Board asks for attorney general opinion on recall
MADISON, Wis. — The Wisconsin attorney general’s office is being asked for a legal opinion on whether a recall targeting the governor would also include the lieutenant governor.
The Wisconsin Government Accountability Board on Monday voted to ask for the opinion. Board staff said in a memo that it believes a recall initiative against the governor would not include the lieutenant governor.
Democrats say they intend to seek a recall of Gov. Scott Walker next year. They have not targeted Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch.
Board director Kevin Kennedy says in the memo that if Kleefisch is to be recalled, a separate petition must be circulated.
