Illinois basketball recruits pair of players

Former Palatine point guard Michael Orris was one of two high school players to commit to Illinois on Sunday. Orris, a Daily Herald all-area selection in 2009-10, transferred to Crete-Monee High School last year.

The 6-foot-2 senior will sign with the Illini in November. Belleville East junior shooting guard Malcolm Hill also pledged to attend Illinois.

He gives the school a pair of four-star recruits in the Class of 2013. Point guard Jalen James of Hope Academy is the other.

If nobody on Illinois' current roster transfers or goes to the NBA early, it has no open scholarships for 2012 and just one for 2013.
