Mexican consul general to attend Hanover Park Fiesta

September marks the start of Hispanic Heritage month. If you are looking for a perfect way to celebrate, enrich your cultural knowledge and have a great time with family and fiends, then join the FIESTA!

The Hanover Park Park District and the Hanover Park Park Foundation invite you to the eighth Annual Mexican Independence Day Celebration in Hanover Park. This event will be from 6-10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, at the Community Center Gym, 1919 Walnut Ave. The Fiesta benefits the entire community while providing an evening of music, food, fun and celebration for all.The first hour will be dedicated to kids, the night will start off with a dance performance form the Hanover Park School Of Dance at 6:15 p.m. and will be followed by the Quetzal folkloric group at 6:30 p.m. Also throughout the event there will be free games, face painting and balloon twisting for kids of all ages. At 7 p.m. Mariachi San Miguel will entertain the audience with classic mariachi songs. Los 5 Magnificos de la Quebradita dance troop will wow the crowd with their incredible aerobatic dance performance at 8 p.m. The official rite of independence will be officiated by Consul General of Mexico Eduardo Arnal at 8:30 p.m. Last, but not least, the night will wrap up with live music featuring Banda Potrillos for all attendees to dance and enjoy from 9 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. The night wouldn#146;t be complete without traditional food. Tamales, tacos, elotes (corn) and other Mexican delicacies will be available for purchase. This is a great opportunity for the family to enjoy a night full of fun and traditions bringing the Hanover Park and other communities together to celebrate as well as learn a little more about Mexican culture. Ticket pre-sales are available through Thursday, Sept. 15, at the Community Center and Dino#146;s Finer Foods in Hanover Park. Pre-sale admission ticket prices are $5 for adults and $3 for kids 10 and under (kids under 3 are free), ticket prices on the day of the event will be $8 for adults and $5 for kids 10 and under (kids under 3 are free).
