Gandhi exhibit opens with grandson’s visit
SPRINGFIELD,-- Mahatma Gandhi’s grandson will make remarks and sign copies of his books at the Oct. 8 opening of an exhibit of the “Great Soul” at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum in Springfield.
Rajmohan Gandhi is a research professor at the Center for South Asian and Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
His grandfather was a political and ideological leader in India during that nation’s quest for independence. He pioneered the use of non-violent civil disobedience to fight tyranny.
The Gandhi exhibit will run through Nov. 10 and feature photographs and media coverage of his activism. It is presented in cooperation with the India Association of Greater Springfield.
