Get your singing voice ready for Mundelein Idol
Contestants are welcome to apply for a slot in the fifth annual Mundelein Idol competition, which is set to take place at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, in the Mundelein High School Auditorium. Tickets cost $8 per person and include the voting package.
Sixteen contestants of any age and location (Mundelein residency is not required) will vie for prizes by performing songs of their choice. After the 16 perform, the audience will vote for their favorites and the field will be narrowed to eight. These semifinalists will then sing another selection, followed by a second audience vote. Three finalists will perform again and then the audience will select the winner.
The MHS choral groups, including Sound, Lights and SoundFX, will perform between the rounds.
Several past Mundelein Idol winners have gone on to other musical successes. The 2008 winner, Shaeleigh Voitl of Bartlett, was featured on the Disney Channel. Angelica Puente of Kenosha the 2010 winner, was a top 16 singer on American Idol.
