Barrington agency in Alzheimer’s Walk
A team from the Barrington Area Council on Aging will participate in the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s at Harper College in Palatine on Sunday, Sept. 11. The BACOA team is expected to join approximately 650 other residents from the Northwest suburban area in the 3.2-mile Walk to End Alzheimer’s to support the Alzheimer’s Association.
The Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the nation’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer care, support and research. Alzheimer’s disease affects more than a 500,000 people in people in Illinois.
“We have been personally affected by Alzheimer’s patients and their families,” said team captain Bonnie Scherkenbach. “We know firsthand that it’s critical to support the Alzheimer’s Association. The funds we raise help families like ours and advance important research that could change the course of Alzheimer’s disease for future generations.”
