Route 83 repaving closes lanes through Halloween

Expect about eight weeks of gridlock on Route 83 in southern Lake County this fall.

Illinois Department of Transportation crews start repaving and resurfacing Route 83 this week. Construction should last until late October.

The work will be done in two segments with traffic reduced to one lane in each direction.

Repaving will occur between Buffalo Grove Road and Route 22 for the next three to four weeks. Construction of the next section between Routes 22 and 45 should start in October and will take three to four weeks.

The project will cost $1.7 million. Triggi Construction of West Chicago is the contractor.
