Village of Lombard Recycling Extravaganza! 11th Season of Landfill Diversions
The Village of Lombard's 11th annual “Recycling Extravaganza!” is getting ready to help divert items from the landfills in an effort to reduce, reuse and recycle. The event will be held on September 24 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. and will be held rain or shine, at the Village Hall Civic Center Complex.
Last year, 56 tons of electronics, 134 car batteries, 75 bikes, four wheelchairs, 28 pairs of crutches, eight tons of shredded documents and a substantial amount of scrap metal, books, flags, shoes, eyeglasses and flower pots were collected.

Select items will be collected by various community organizations and repurposed or recycled. American flags will be collected by the VFW and properly disposed. Bicycles, non-motorized wheel chairs, crutches and shoes will be collected by the Rotary Club of Lombard for Working Bikes Cooperative, Share Your Soles and Poised For
Success.
Eyeglasses and hearing aids will be collected by the Lombard Lion's Club, as well as old metal keys. The Glenbard East High School's Ecology Club will collect clay and ceramic flower pots for reuse as well.
