Rachel’s Challenge in Lake Zurich:
Lake Zurich High School will sponsor Rachel’s Challenge with an all-student assembly Thursday, Sept. 15. There also will be a free community presentation on the same date at 7 p.m. in the high school Performing Arts Center. Rachel Scott was the first person killed at Colorado’s Columbine High School on April 20, 1999. Her acts of kindness and compassion, coupled with the contents of her six diaries, have become the foundation for what some consider to be one of the most life-changing school programs in the United States. Part of Rachel’s Challenge is to create a permanent positive culture change in schools, businesses and communities by starting a chain reaction of kindness and compassion.
