Elawa Farm hosts ‘Dig into Fall’ garden symposium

Elawa Farm is hosting its first “hands-on” Garden Symposium called “Dig into Fall”.

The same program will be given each day, Sept. 9 and 10. Both days will begin with an 8:30 a.m. check-in, presenters starting at 9, followed by lunch prepared by Gale Gand and the afternoon in the garden.

The scheduled presenters are:

타“Planting for Autumnal Glory” Craig Bergman, proprietor of Craig Bergmann Landscape Design (www.craigbergmann.com). Now headquartered at the original gatehouse of Elawa Farm, Craig continues to share his passion for gardening and is celebrating his 30th year in the business.

타“Prep Now Plant Later” Rick Belding, Chicago Botanic Garden’s fruit and vegetable horticulturalist. Rick has experience in garden design, restoration and fruit/vegetable/flower production.

타“Bulbs: Which Way is Up?” Russ Buvala, head gardener at Craig Bergmann Landscape Design. A 25-year industry veteran and graduate of the University of Illinois, Russ is passionate about all aspects of the gardening world.

타“From Farm to Table” Gale Gand, Elawa Farm’s chef-in-residence. Chef Gand is also executive pastry chef and partner of the renowned restaurant Tru in Chicago. She is a two-time James Beard Award Winner, host of the long-running Food Network show Sweet Dreams, now airing daily on the Cooking Channel and author of seven cookbooks.
