3 NE Indiana colleges report enrollment increases

FORT WAYNE, Ind. — Three northeastern Indiana colleges are reporting increases in enrollment.

The Journal Gazette reports Indiana-Purdue-Fort Wayne set an enrollment record for a sixth straight year. The university enrolled 14,326 students, an increase of almost 1 percent over a year ago. Spokesman Mark Franke attributes the enrollment surge to an increase of high school students taking college courses, expanded housing options on campus and an array of strong academic offerings.

The University of Saint Francis in Fort Wayne has a record freshman class of 799 students, giving it an enrollment of 2,381 students. It's the second straight year the Catholic liberal arts university set an enrollment record.

Manchester College officials say the school has an enrollment of more than 1,300 students, the highest enrollment since the Vietnam War.
