City hosts open house for Metra study Sept. 12

Open House Taking Place Monday, September 12

The City of Naperville will host a public open house for the Naperville Metra Station Bus Depot and Commuter Access Feasibility Study from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, September 12 in Meeting Rooms A, B and C of the Naperville Municipal Center, 400 S. Eagle St. There will be no group presentation as the meeting is an open house format. A copy of the meeting agenda and associated meeting materials will be available at www.naperville.il.us/busdepotfeasibility.aspx by Thursday, September 8.

During the open house, information about the purpose and scope of the study, anticipated project schedule and public input opportunities will be available for review at a series of exhibits organized by topic. Representatives from the City will be available to respond to questions and provide clarification. Information regarding potential opportunities and challenges associated with a bus depot in the vicinity of the Naperville Metra Station will also be available for public review and comment.

An implementation action item from the 5th Avenue Study adopted by the City Council on December 1, 2010, the City is conducting the Naperville Metra Station Bus Depot and Commuter Access Feasibility Study in order to evaluate the potential for a bus depot in the vicinity of the Naperville Metra Station as a method to consolidate passenger pick-up/drop-off activity, minimize bus queues on local streets, and reduce bus conflicts with pedestrian and kiss-and-ride activity.
