Juvenile driver dies in Indianapolis police chase
INDIANAPOLIS — Police in Indianapolis say a juvenile driver was killed and a passenger injured when their car crashed into a utility pole while fleeing from officers.
Police say an officer spotted the car driving early Monday without its headlights on and flashed his headlights in an attempt to alert him. When the other driver didn’t respond, the officer tried to stop the car on the city’s southwest side.
Police say the driver refused to stop and led officers on a chase along neighborhood streets and through alleys before going out of control and hitting the utility pole. The driver died at the scene and the passenger was taken to a hospital in good condition.
