ComEd excuses get me charged up

I have lived in my current home for 42 years. The area is in a woods full of mature oaks on both sides of my street. On my side, I’ve always had frequent power outages. The other side very few times.

This summer has been ridiculous. The power has been out nine times. The July 11 storm caused widespread damage, and we understand this was a unique challenge. I was out 2½ days and lost $200 worth of food.

The power stayed on through the Aug. 20 electrical storm. However, power went out one hour after the storm had passed, leaving me without power for 5½ hours.

I was told by ComEd that my home is on a line with 60 other homes and that the line has a weakness. I say they jury-rig it each time instead of fixing the real problem.

They dumb me down by blaming the tree canopy. This is not good service. Every thunderstorm should not be met with dread.
