Metropolis gets grant from Target

Metropolis Performing Arts Centre has received a generous grant from Target in support of its education programs and efforts within the community.

Since 1946, Target has given 5 percent of its income to communities. Today, that giving equals more than $3 million every week. “At Target, our local grants are making a difference in communities across the country,” said Laysha Ward, president of Community Relations for Target. “We’re proud to partner with Metropolis Performing Arts Centre as part of our ongoing commitment to strengthen communities where our guests and team members live and work.”

As part of Target’s efforts to strengthen communities, Metropolis was awarded a $2,000 grant. These funds will bolster Metropolis’ educational programs, specifically the efforts of its Outreach program to bring the arts directly into the community. Metropolis Outreach is currently partnering with Northwest Special Recreation Association, Arlington Pediatric Therapy and Clearbrook to bring the arts to individuals with special needs. Its veteran Outreach program, Flourish in the Footlights, presented in partnership with Arlington Pediatric Therapy, concluded its eighth year in the spring.

“Thanks to Target’s support, we can continue to help those with limited arts opportunities experience the tremendous personal growth and thrill that comes from acting and performing,” Metropolis Executive Director Jim Jarvis said.

Metropolis also receives generous sponsorship from American Airlines, Daily Herald, DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Chicago — Arlington Heights, FastSigns of Arlington Heights, and Stella Artois.

Metropolis is located in the heart of Chicago’s Northwest suburbs in downtown Arlington Heights at the intersection of Campbell and Vail Avenue (111 W. Campbell St.). Street parking is available. Free parking is available in the public garage behind the theater.
