Safety award for Mundelein

The village of Mundelein won second place in the 2010-11 Illinois Traffic Safety Challenge sponsored by the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Illinois Department of Transportation. The award was presented Aug. 25 at the Midwest Security and Police Conference/Expo in Peoria. It is the village’s seventh Challenge award to date. The program is designed to challenge law enforcement agencies to tackle traffic safety problems in unique ways. The Mundelein Police Department was awarded a Traffic Solutions Speed Sentry Shield radar speed sign as the second place winner in its division and 15 Challenge polo shirts.
