Rahm Emanuel moves back into family home
Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel has moved back into the home that was at the center of a challenge to his qualifications to seek the office.
Opponents of Emanuel’s mayoral candidacy contended the former White House chief of staff didn’t meet the residency requirement because he lived for nearly two years in Washington before coming home after Mayor Richard Daley announced he wouldn’t seek a seventh term.
A businessman rented Emanuel’s home while he worked in Washington. Since renter Rob Halpin vacated the house in the Ravenswood neighborhood, Emanuel has been renovating the home, which a spokesman says the mayor moved back into this weekend.
Emanuel told reporters he rode a Chicago Transit Authority train to work Tuesday. He was accompanied by his security detail.
