Naperville police searching for gunman who robbed 7-Eleven

Naperville police are looking for a gunman who robbed a convenience store early Wednesday morning.

The man entered the 7-Eleven store on the 1900 block of South Washington Street at 1:36 a.m. Wednesday, showed a black, semiautomatic handgun to the store employee, and demanded cash, Sgt. John Westlove said. The employee handed over an undisclosed amount of cash, and the gunman fled on foot.

No one was injured in the robbery, police said, and the clerk phoned police.

Westlove said a Naperville K-9 unit tracked the thief for a short time, but lost the scent.

The gunman was described as a thin male of unknown race, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, a mask covering his face, dark jeans and black gym shoes.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Naperville police at (630) 420-6173.
