Man accused in 1957 killing formally indicted

Court documents show a man charged in the 1957 kidnapping and murder of a 7-year-old Sycamore girl has been formally indicted.

The (DeKalb) Daily Chronicle reports that Jack McCullough was indicted by a grand jury on felony murder, kidnapping and abduction charges last week in the death of Maria Ridulph.

The 71-year-old was arrested last month in Seattle and brought to Illinois to face charges in the death of his former neighbor in Sycamore.

Ridulph's death attracted national media attention.

McCullough has denied any wrongdoing, saying in jail interviews that he has an alibi for the day Ridulph went missing.

His attorney says he'll plead not guilty.

McCullough is being held on $3 million bail. He is due in court Aug. 29.
