No need for tobacco shop in Palatine
Kudos to the Palatine village board for turning down the proposed tobacco shop on Northwest Highway. Besides the concern over synthetic marijuana and drug paraphernalia that might be sold, it is well documented that tobacco products in any form are harmful to our health.
As a registered nurse I see the devastating effects these products have on peoples lives daily. There is no shortage of retail outlets in our community to obtain tobacco products. I am curious if anyone else wonders why a business whose primary focus is the sale of prepaid phone cards would be called a tobacco shop and not a phone shop?
Thank you, council, for making a positive decision for the health of our community.
