Emanuel touts accomplishments in first 100 days

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, the former White House chief of staff, is touting a list of his accomplishments during the first 100 days since he replaced the retired Mayor Richard M. Daley. They include:

Ÿ Progress toward fulfilling a pledge to cut $75 million from the current budget. He says $51.3 million in savings has been achieved by cutting senior management payroll, merging functions and other moves.

Ÿ Redeployment of 500 police officers to the street from other areas of the department and from administrative functions.

Ÿ The signing of executive orders on ethics, including one that prohibits new appointees from lobbying city government for two years after they leave his administration.

Ÿ Posting searchable versions of the city’s budget and employee salaries online.

Ÿ Convening a “food desert” summit with major grocery store chains to talk about expanding in underserved communities.
