Millions expected for Chicago Air & Water Show
CHICAGO — An estimated 2.2 million people are expected on the shores of Lake Michigan for this year's Chicago Air and Water Show.
The Chicago Office of Emergency Management and Communications is warning residents of increased crowds as the Saturday and Sunday show takes flight. Performers include the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, the U.S. Army Parachute Team Golden Knights and the U.S. Navy Leap Frogs Parachute Team. The show runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.
One Chicago firefighter already has been honored as a "Hometown Hero" by the Thunderbirds. Jason Durbin got to fly with the Air Force on Thursday in an F-16.
Durbin performed a rescue in a high-rise fire in the Lincoln Park neighborhood.
Rain and thunderstorms are forecast for parts of the weekend.
