Gardening, English programs set for Ela library

Fun and educational programs are scheduled for this month at the Ela Area Public Library in Lake Zurich.

Master gardeners from the University of Illinois will run a summer plant clinic from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, in the library’s lobby. The pros will answer your gardening questions and offer advice. For details, call (847) 438-3433.

The library also will offer free English as a second language classes starting Thursday, Aug. 25.

Classes will take place from 9:30 a.m. to noon or 6:15 to 8:45 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Registration for all students will be Thursday, Aug. 18, and Tuesday, Aug. 23, at 9:15 a.m. or 6:15 p.m. at the library.

The classes are designed to improve the reading and speaking skills of adults who do not speak English as their primary language.
