Former Waukegan High School and University of Illinois basketball player Jereme Richmond was released from jail on Friday after posting $10,000 for bond, Lake County jail officials said. Richmond, 19, of Waukegan, was charged Aug. 9 with aggravated battery and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon after what police said was a pair of confrontations with a 17-year-old woman with whom Richmond had a dating relationship. The former Waukegan High standout went on to Champaign for his freshman year, then was rejected when he attempted to enter the NBA draft after one year of college. Richmond, who could face up to 14 years in prison if convicted but would also be eligible for probation, is due to appear in court Aug. 18.
