District 70 picks new board member

Libertyville resident Julie Damenti has been selected to fill a vacancy on the District Elementary 70 school board. Damenti is the immediate past president of the Family Associations of District 70 and has an extensive record of volunteering in the schools. S

he was selected Wednesday by the school board from among six candidates to complete the remaining two years of the four-year term of longtime board member Joy Schwerman, who recently resigned.

Damenti, who has worked as an auditor, recruiting manager, human resource manager and real estate agent, has three children attending District 70 schools. She will be sworn in Aug. 22.
