Chicago woman among dead at Indiana State Fair concert

CHICAGO — A Chicago woman who worked with a lesbian community care project was among the victims when wind toppled a stage and its rigging before an Indiana State Fair concert.

The Howard Brown Health Center on Sunday called 29-year-old Christina Santiago a "treasured colleague" and "rising star." She managed programming for the center's Lesbian Community Care Project. She was one of five people killed before a Sugarland concert on Saturday in Indianapolis.

The center said Santiago's partner, Alisha Brennon, was severely injured in the accident.

Howard Brown Health Center president Jamal Edwards called Santiago's death "sudden and devastating." Edwards says Santiago's "passion and leadership for caring for others will be deeply missed." The center detailed Santiago's many honors and awards.

Edwards called Santiago "irreplaceable."
