Hawthorn Woods church names new assistant pastor

On Sunday, Aug. 14, the Rev. Edward A. Blonski will be installed as assistant pastor at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Hawthorn Woods. The Service of Installation is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. at the church, 24500 Old McHenry Road, between Midlothian and Quentin roads. A reception will follow the Service of Installation.

Blonski is a graduate of Grant Community High School in Fox Lake and attended Concordia University Wisconsin in Mequon, Wis., before matriculating to Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Mo., receiving a master of divinity in 1995.

He has served parishes in Michigan, Wisconsin and California. His specific call to St. Matthew is to serve in the areas of evangelism, family and youth ministry, while providing support and resources to the volunteer teaching staff.

Blonski and his wife, Nancy, have been married for 20 years and have three sons.
