Palatine’s Rotary Club hosts Chinese-American writer Ping
The Rotary Club of Palatine will host noted Chinese-American writer Jian Ping at its meeting from 7:15 to 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16, at the Red Apple Pancake House and Cafe, 2121 Plum Grove Road, Palatine. The public is invited to attend the service organization’s meeting. Ping’s book, “Mulberry Child: A Memoir of China,” is an account of her family’s struggle to survive the Chinese Cultural Revolution. It’s being developed into a feature-length documentary. Ping speaks on topics about China, women’s leadership, immigrant assimilation and writing.
