Celebrate completion of Central Park Project Aug. 11
The City of Naperville, Naperville Park District and the Naperville Municipal Band invite the public to celebrate the completion of the Central Park Renovation Project at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 11 at Central Park, 104 E. Benton Ave.
Attending will be Naperville Mayor A. George Pradel, Naperville City Council members, former state Rep. Jim Meyer, Naperville Park District Board of Commissioners President Mike Reilly, Naperville Park District Board Commissioners, Naperville Municipal Band Treasurer Bret Richter and Naperville Municipal Band members
The event will feature a brief ceremony prior to the beginning of the Naperville Municipal Band's last concert of the summer season.
Work was completed this summer on the Central Park Renovation Project, which included replacement of the park's bench seating, improved site grading, improved lighting design and installation, relocation of the cannon to minimize conflicts with the portable restrooms and relocation of the audio platform to allow for better visibility of the Community Concert Center.
The work on this project was performed with significant input from the Naperville Municipal Band and the community at large. In addition, the City received a $300,000 grant from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity with support from Representative Meyer to improve Central Park seating. During the event, a plaque honoring the contributions of the City, Park District, Naperville Municipal Band, Representative Meyer and the public will be unveiled.
