Lindenhurst trustee announces Lake County Board bid
Lindenhurst Trustee Patrick J. Dunham said he will run for a seat on the Lake County Board.
Dunham said he will be a candidate for the District 3 seat, which doubles as a commissioner on the Lake County Forest Preserve District board. He would face incumbent Jim Newton in the March 2012 Republican primary election.
District 3 represents portions of Lindenhurst and Old Mill Creek and the unincorporated area of Lake Villa Township.
Dunham said he is a “fiscal hawk” who wants to improve communication between district residents and Lake County on important issues.
A village trustee for nearly nine years, Dunham said “my government and military experience gives me a unique perspective on public service.”
Newton, 49, was appointed in March to fill a vacancy left by former county board Chairwoman Suzi Schmidt, who went on to serve in the state Senate. Newton announced in mid-July he will seek re-election to the seat.
A Democratic candidate for the seat has not yet surfaced.
