2 children struck by taxi in Chicago

CHICAGO — Two children are recovering after being struck by a taxi as they crossed a street on Chicago's Magnificent Mile shopping district.

Police say the cabbie received two tickets for striking the 8- and 6-year-old children Sunday evening.

Authorities say the 6-year-old was treated for a broken leg, while the older child suffered a bruised stomach.

The driver is a 65-year-old from Richton Park. Police say he was cited for failure to exercise due care with pedestrians in the roadway.
