Céili dancing open to the public Tuesdays in August

Put on your dancing shoes, grab your partners, and come out to Ballydoyle Restaurant & Pub in Downers Grove for an evening of traditional Irish céilis.

The McNulty School of Irish Dance is hosting a series of Céili workshops on Tuesdays nights, 6 to 7:30 p.m., throughout the month of August.

A Céili is a traditional Irish team dance that has been passed generation to generation and is typically performed at Irish weddings and hooleys. Our McNulty instructors will teach these céilis as your Irish ancestors knew them. No prior dance experience is necessary, and all ages are welcome.

Summer may be winding down, but these céilis are just starting up! Meet some new friends and bring some old friends as we celebrate one of the richest traditions the Irish heritage has to offer.

The fee is just $3 at the door. Please e-mail mcnultydancers@aol.com to reserve your place.

The McNulty School of Irish Dance celebrated its 40th anniversary this year. Founded in 1971 by Barbara McNulty T.C.R.G., the McNulty School of Irish Dance has grown to become one of the most active schools in the Midwest, with classes in more than 15 locations across Chicagoland, Bloomington, and Rockford, Ill., as well classes in Wisconsin and Iowa. The McNulty School of Irish Dance seeks to preserve the rich traditions of Irish music and dance by celebrating them now and passing them down for future generations.
