News Marine to visit Sportsmen’s Club Posted August 03, 2011 12:00 am Submitted by the Northwest Towns Sportsmen’s Club In February 2011, the Northwest Towns Sportsmen’s Club shipped 14 boxes of venison jerky and seven boxes of comfort items to Marines stationed in Afghanistan. The jerky was made by NWTSC members out of meat they harvested themselves. The point of contact overseas was Cpl. Mark Ramel, who turned 21 while on duty in the war zone. At 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5, Cpl. Ramel will visit the NWTSC at the American Legion Hall, 121 N. Douglas Ave., Arlington Heights. Residents are welcome to meet an American hero and find out how to help with the NWTSC Support the Troops project next year. For details, contact Wayne H. Wagner at waynehwagner@comcast.net or (847) 804-6464. Article Categories Arlington Heights Communities Cook County Counties News Outdoors Sports Sports Types
