Let’s target those who pay no taxes
In response to Froma Harrop’s July 10 column claiming “The people do indeed want higher taxes,” she fails to mention that nearly half of U.S. households pay zero federal income tax. These people who pay nothing are quick to point the finger at the successful entrepreneurs of our society and demand that they pay higher taxes. Would 50 percent make them happy? How about 60 percent of their income? Where does it end?
Try telling any one of those nontaxpaying people that they have to work the first half of the year before they are entitled to keep any of their own money, and they will look at you like you just shot their dog.
