Pay fees, get class info at Dist. 50’s residency event

Woodland Elementary District 50 will hold its fifth annual proof of residency event Aug. 9-11 at the Woodland Middle School gymnasium, 7000 Washington St., Gurnee.

More than 97 percent of families proved residency before the first day of school, amounting to approximately 4,050 families.

The purpose of the event is to confirm that all students attending Woodland schools are District 50 residents.

In an effort to serve the number of families participating in this event, the following schedule has been created to provide families with options of days and times to attend. There is no advantage to attending a particular day or time.

Aug. 9: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Aug. 10: noon to 8 p.m.

Aug. 11: noon to 8 p.m.

Please expect longer lines on the first day.

During the residency event, parents will be given their children’s school, class and bus information. Families will have the opportunity to pay fees, deposit funds in lunch accounts, obtain information regarding PTA and the Woodland Educational Foundation, obtain forms for fee waivers and free or reduced lunch applications and view classroom lists for every school.

Spirit Wear will be available for purchase during the Proof of Residency Event. Please note that PTA accepts credit cards, cash and check/money order (made out to Woodland PTA) when purchasing Spirit Wear. All other PTA-related purchases may be done with cash and check/money order.

Spirit Wear will NOT be sold at Sneak Preview or during Curriculum Nights in September due to limited volunteers at these events. This will be the only chance to purchase Spirit Wear in the beginning of the 2011-12 school year.

Should you wish to support PTA and volunteer, please contact woodlandpta50@gmail.com

PTA will also offer a limited number of school supply packs. Box Sox will also be available during Proof of Residency.

As part of the Proof of Residency event, a survey will be conducted for the purpose of inquiring how families wish to receive communication from the district. This will be helpful as the district continues to enhance ways it shares news with families and taxpayers.

This is the fifth year the district has enhanced measures that require Woodland families to prove residency.
