Man charged in Dominick’s pepper spray attack
A Chicago man accused of dousing two women with pepper spray at a Willowbrook grocery store was ordered held Tuesday on $250,000 bail.
Dexter Curry, 40, appeared in DuPage County bond court on a felony charge of aggravated battery. Prosecutors said a bystander caught Curry rifling through an 86-year-old woman’s purse Monday as she shopped at Dominick’s, 6300 Kingery Highway.
When both women confronted him, prosecutors said, he shot pepper spray into their faces. Judge Michael Wolfe set bail Tuesday at $250,000, meaning Curry would need $25,000 to get out of jail. Prosecutors said he had prior convictions for theft, armed robbery and drug possession, and has served prison time.
