Ill. gov names acting aging department director
CHICAGO — The Illinois Department on Aging has a new leader.
In a news release, Gov. Pat Quinn announced he has appointed Michael Gelder as the agency's acting director, replacing the recently retired Charles Johnson.
Gelder has been Quinn's senior health care policy advisor for about two years, pushing, according to the governor's statement, to modernize the state's health care and long-term care systems.
The governor's office says Gelder will serve as acting director until a permanent director is hired.
