Farmstand
Find the market for you
Spring is in the air, and that means that it's just about farmer's market season -- when you can get fresh food from local producers. But if you've just moved to a new area or are just not that plugged in to the one you're in, you may be at a loss when it comes to finding where (or when) your friendly neighborhood market is operating.
Farmstand is here to help. The app, for iOS devices, depends on user-generated data to let shoppers know the locations and hours of their local markets. Obviously, the information in your area gets better the more people in your area use the app.
As a growing community of vendors and users participate, the app also lets you add further information, such as whether the market takes SNAP food stamps. Users can also add photos and comments to the listings to share what's on offer that week or offer advice on who the best vendors are. And if you don't have a good community on the app yet? Well, you can help create one. Free, for iOS devices.
Pushbullet
Link between devices
Have you ever been looking at something on your phone and really wished that you could send it on to your home computer? Or maybe you've downloaded a document on your phone while in transit, but would like to see it on a bigger screen.
Sure, there are ways to move files around -- emailing to yourself, uploading to a service like Dropbox, etc. -- but they can often be clunky.
Enter Pushbullet. This app, which can be downloaded on iOS and Android devices as well as to Firefox and Chrome, takes the hassle out of juggling devices.
With one click or tap, it lets you send links, files, notes and even to-do lists between devices. Sending an address over the service will even automatically open the location in Apple or Google Maps, for easy navigation. Free, for iOS and Android devices.
